My enjoyment of the series would likely skyrocket if she were not in the show at all. Designing a military sub does not make you suitable to captain one. She's just an annoying ditzy trope who doesn't even do anything cool or interesting when she's being written as this "amazing leader". Tessa doesn't even work as part of the love triangle either. Sosuke has no romantic feelings toward her and especially wouldn't act on them with her being his superior officer. This makes here a non issue as far as that drama goes.

The novels made it clear that as Chidori's Wispered powers awaken, she had to deliberately answer questions wrong in exams to maintain her old test score average. (Hence Tessa pointing out that her brother was smarter than her as a child, even though she was already a genius as she is.)

For the record, yes I know others continued where Boku-Tachi left off. But the further beyond what they did you get, the more unreadable the translations become. Eventually you get to the Shutazen translations, which are only useful if you absolutely must know what happens in the story. The english is s broken, the grammar so unnatural or flat out wrong, that I can get no enjoyment out of reading them whatsoever.

Boku-Tachi's work was damn near professional quality, especially compared to those who picked up the torch on FMP, and I miss it.
