So, I'm not entirely familiar with the Vs. series... I own Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam and thought it was a great idea with terrible controls.

Since you all are hyping Next up, I went and tried GvG... It was slightly better. Instead of feeling like a slug, I felt like a slug on meth. I like having the OPs/EDs playing during the stages.

But if I'm understanding correctly, people play these games like competitive fighters, correct? To each their own, but that seems a bit laughable to me.

Personally, I'm a big fan of GBU and even NET because they make me actually feel like I'm piloting a mobile suit.

For me, it's getting competent at a few suits such as Exia (lol scrub) Unicorn, Tallgeese and Hyaku-Shiki, so I can go down to Arcade UFO and kick some ass.

And UC and AU are both awesome when judged on their own merits and not compared to one another.

I was happy with the vs Gundam games, like AEUG vs Titans and shit, even if they didn't do much to improve the core gameplay with each iteration. I'd jump for one for Char's Counterattack and V Gundam. AU ones would be kind of difficult to pull off, since Gundam units are put on a much higher pedestal than normal grunts were compared to UC, so they'd have to really work on the balance to make dedicated games like that work

Gundam 00 - Gundam Meisters for the PS2.
