Am I the only one who thinks Gunbuster is a homage to Getter G?

The head crest; the tomahawk; the ship gattai; the forehead beam; THE POSE...

I think it's fairly obvious. But I've never seen anyone mention it.

The original VA's are some of the only redeemable things about the original Getter anime's when compared to their manga counterparts.
Well, that and the crossover movies that led to us having Final Dynamic Specials in our SRWs today.

There are so many little references to various anime series and movies, it is hard to name each one. I recall a Grave of the Fireflies homage for example.
But as others have mentioned, the most obvious influence is Getter Robo, more specifically, the manga's continuity.
