This is hardly the place for that post. There's a reason I make the Eternity threads, so please try to limit any comments or questions to those threads. I don't want to be rude and inadvertently hijack someone else's thread.

>I'll admit it's not at all unrealistic
If you were to think about it for a bit, you'd realize it was very unrealistic. I'm not talking about the mecha in the setting. I'm not a scientist nor do I claim to be experienced enough to speak about that subject, so let's just move past that.
War, however, does not have foreshadowing. It does not have symbolism. You don't touch a cold rifle of a dead soldier in Italy, say a few sarcastic things about the whole crudeness of combat, only to die by that same gun later on in Germany. It just doesn't work that way. War is going off your platoon's camp to take a piss and a smoke, only to realize that the enemy is doing a bombing run of the area your camp is located in. You run back to find the rest of your unit survived the attack, but only to get shot in the ass when they think you're the enemy moving in to clean up what they started.
Now, with that said, MS IGLOO is a fine example of combining war and fiction. They were able to bring in the true harshness of war, while at the same time staying true to the fundamentals of good story telling and rewarding you with some enjoyable entertainment.
That's just my opinion though. You're all welcome to disagree, but it'd be nice to hear why.
