I have never watched a Super Sentai series.

Conversely, I have never seen a Power Rangers series beyond the original Mighty Morphin.

Unfortunately, the plot goes nowhere, and suffers from a chronic (and perhaps terminal) case of the anime DEEP. Seriously, casshern wanders around the desert looking sad for 20 episodes before the writers thought about a plot, and then they botched that.

Ringo is TERRIFYING as well.

check uc stats, sazabi's funnels have stronger beams than Zeta's mega cannon.

What the fuck did I just watch, and why am I so moved by it.

The music, the mech/ship designs, the fucking SCOPE of the show. Everything came together. Sweet Jesus.

The ending of Diebuster really isn't that awesome, particularly if you had it spoiled for you. Gunbuster's ending got me emotional, but Diebuster's was pretty flat for me.

An user from SRWG forums(Ryoga316) found a very interesting article dating back from 2001 to 2007 giving a critical view of the original Mazinger universe. these articles are based on various Mazinger books that were released. there are some very interesting things such as Mazinger Z being as tall as Great Mazinger during the End of Great Mazinger. It also goes out to say that the mazinger's horse power was at one point far greater than Grendizer. However the article also makes note that Grendizer is still stronger but the Mazinger bros are also capable to fight Vegans

I prefer Mazinger's crazy character designs, and more light-hearted, fourth-wall breaking plot.

Getter Robo is still pretty cartoony, but also more serious. Hot-blooded and batshit while still having low-key moments. There's something darkly fascinating about it.

I would really like to read Kyomu Senki one of these days.
