I actually did post the barebones of my idea here before. They were just supposed to be a little joke for the topic, but after turning them in my head for a while, I actually came to really like them a whole lot.
Sakuya, much like Patchouli, took shelter in the SDM after being called out for witchcraft. However, she entered the SDM just as the witch hunt craze was dying out, witch hunts only really taking place in isolated cities and towns. The town she's from had a clock tower in the middle, and it was how she initially found out about her ability to manipulate time. At this point, she still didn't have complete control over her ability, and she relied on watching the clock and other visual cues to tell her if her ability had worked or not. Remilia, interested in the various rumors of a witch still existing, began to hunt Sakuya down. After tricking Sakuya into entering a mansion with broken clocks, Remilia defeated Sakuya and took her to the mansion. Remilia gave Sakuya a stopwatch - one made by Patchouli - that would never, ever stop or skip a second. Initially alarmed by being taken into the mansion with vampires and witches, Sakuya eventually realizes that this is the only place where she could truly be accepted, considering the already odd, magical occupants that already inhabited it. Surprisingly, Remilia asks Sakuya if she'd like to leave the mansion and return home. Sakuya comes to the realization that she has no true home to return to. She says she'd rather stay in the mansion. After giving Sakuya her current name, Remilia laughs at how she knew from the very beginning that Sakuya was fated to work under her.
